To halt the "system of shooting prisoners and the defeated" Lord Elliot met with Don Carlos and Zumalakarregi as well as with General Valdes. "by virtue of this treaty [...] the army commanders[...] agreed to save the lives of all prisoners [...], and to exchange them every three months...". Signed between the 27th and 28th of April 1835.
