- Joaquín Baldomero Fernández Espartero Alvarez de Toro, liberal politician and soldier. As General Commander in Vizcaya he fought in the Carlist war to liberate Bilbao from the 1st siege and in the Battle of Mendigorria. In 1836 as commander in chief of the army of the north he liberated Bilbao in the Battle of Lutxana. In 1839 together with Maroto he signed the Agreement of Bergara that brought the 1st Carlist War to an end.
